MMC64 and RR-net
I just ordered two really cool pieces of hardware.
MMC64 (SD and MM card reader for Commodore 64)
and the
RR-net
Together they allow me to have a C64 with (up to) 4GIG of storage (FAT16)
And network...
I can surf the web, irc and telnet from it
I'm in retro heaven !!
Just have to get
Contiki and I can browse, chat and all of that..
As soon as I have them, I'll post some cool info, make some video's (TV capture card) and a review

Some things just don't work out on emulators..
Like demoscene stuff.. I'd like to record some demo's from digital to analog to digital for the look sound and feel..
Also I'll be at a
3 day lanparty in october.. no PC's allowed (unless slave to superior C64 hardware)
Will be great fun.

My new toy: Retro Replay: You have allready seen my two C64 toys the MMC64 and RRnet..Now i have yet another toy connected to it..
This wonderfull toy is the ultimate freezer cartridge for the C64.

It works like a charm.. the MMC64 is a must have for C64 enthausiasts..
And the RRnet just rocks !!
I just browsed this (my) site with the 'old' Contiki I got on a 5.25" floppy with the RRnet..

(80 seconds instead of some 5 minutes)
And ofcourse the Dreamload dfi stuff with cbmconvert
(loading multiload stuff directly from SDcard)

I just received my MMC64, MP3@64, Retro Replay, RR_Net and 4 player joystick adapter package.
It is truly amazing. I can now listen to MP3s, have over 7000 programs running off a single SD card, browse the net, chat on IRC, and many many other things all from a computer with 64 kb of ram and less than 1 mhz cpu!!!
I am very impressed with pricing of the hardware addons, especially when you consider the neat build quality and tiny TINY market for C64 addons.
The only thing I dont like is the awkward way in which the cards plug together, at odd angles etc. With all 4 cards installed it looks like I have a circuit board "L" jutting out of the back of my '64 with 2 circuit board "signposts" pointing west!
I am in the process of repositioning the cards by using small ribbon cables that connect between the edge connectors and allow the cards to be repositioned. Then I shall construct a nice case to conceal them.
How cool is that..
I'm still working on my cases..
Hope to have 'm finnished before X2006..
