As posted
before, friday I was at a
workshop on technical and legal aspects of peer-to-peer television.
It was nice to hear about our competition and see that the are verry little compatibility issues..
The workshop was also the launch of
Tribler (as seen on
boingboing).
I personally don't like tribler that much.. they seem a bit naive in a couple of areas.
- Decentralised community systems tend to have a downward spiral, because no top level moderation can be done.
- Using friends to speed up your download doesn't work.. it just generates more overhead for the origional seeder.
But it's a study model, so who cares ;)
I did have a great time meeting and greeting some people in the industry.
SwarmTv can work with agregated 'tast buddy' (what a crap name) data.
So SwarmTv is kinda compatible with that whole (doomed) Tribler idea..
Work on the
SwarmTv project has finaly started to pick up again, there is some fresh code in the
subversion..
So the SwarmTvPoc is soon to be scrapped.
