The Hobbits

You might know the "They are taking the hobbits to Eisengard" video.

Made by Tron of the Subversive elements, last weekend at X2006 they released a SID version.
It placed fifth in the Music competition.

The final SID version and the competition disk image can also be downloaded from: http://hobbits.tp2.be/
I'll see to recording an ogg and mp3 as soon as I can.

X2006

The party of the year.
X-2006 C64 party.
We had loads of drinks and fun.
Friday Ranzbak and I arrived in Hengelo (GLD) around 17:40 and met Ziphoid, Andreas, Misser, SpeedySan and Tron in person for the first time.
We set up our gear in a cozy corner and went for a drink and a walk.
My machine was eagerly used to check out compatibility and transfer stuff..
I entered in the IK+ tournement and lost big time,TCH really kicked my ass..
Had a loads of interresting talks and on Saturday saw some amazing compo entries.

The Wild Bunch demo was awesome..
Extend's Der Gümmel was great..
C64.com's Let's scroll it is an instand clasic !
Fairlight's romeo was wonderfull.. Ranzbak's favorite.

They're taking the SID to Eisengard music by Misser, A0D and Tron came in 5th in the music compo.
Misser promissed me there will be a 'final' version of it with the 'new' player for better sound.

The Bastard SysAdmin Returns

I just finished reading The Bastard SysAdmin Returns by: Dinowuff

A great BOFH style story.
Quote:
Entering the west end of the building I see the glow from my date center illuminating the darkness. “Hum”, I say aloud to no one, I know I turned the lights off when I left. Entering the data center the first thing I see is my boss’s boss sweating profusely. Three other guys are running from monitor to monitor trying to… Do something. My boss is in the corner trying to manipulate his palm pilot for; again, unknown reasons.

With a calm but “All Knowing” voice I announce: “What are you doing”? The banter ceases and all eyes are on me. Good. At least they won’t all die instantly.
You know you want to read it!
And here is a direct link to part two.

Model M for Murder

A video that tests the myth about a Model M keyboard being so tought, you can kill a man and still type afterwards..
We used a slightly broken model M from 1988 (letters B, N and the ?/ button were broken to start with).
The other keyboard was from Zenith sporting a Bull logo, that one has a thinner metal plate and rubber dome keys, it is also a 'bit' thinner than the Model M.

Get it in High Quality MP4 49MB
